ABOUT Dauntless Promotion was founded in January 2003 to specialize in Noncommercial A3 (Adult Album Alternative) radio when it was emerging from college and NPR as a viable and impactful format alongside its Commercial A3 counterpart. Since then, more Commercial A3 stations have begun to embrace Noncommercial A3’s philosophy of playing challenging, alternative artists that satisfy an educated, sometimes younger, music-fan-focused demo, without alienating their older audience. I call what I do “adult tastemaker radio promotion.” I’ve been in radio promotion for 12 years, working in the A3, College and NPR formats for groundbreaking boutique record labels such as Putumayo World Music (where I co-produced the Putumayo World Music Hour), Hearts of Space Records and Windham Hill/High Street Records, and at an independent promotion company Coast to Coast Promotion. Before that, I studied recording engineering and worked in college radio at San Francisco State University, interned at the music supervision company Transition Music and at Brilliant Studios. I’m also a part-time musician and songwriter and have played in San Francisco bands for over 10 years—currently, the alt-country quintet Axton Kincaid. [more] |
